Jennifer Ilkin Earns Certification in Healthcare Garden Design
Jennifer Ilkin, Group Leader of Eberly & Associates’ Landscape Architecture, received a Certificate of Merit in Healthcare Garden Design from the Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The unique program is an intensive, eight-days including lectures from the foremost experts on therapeutic design research and implementation, case studies, field trips, and group projects.
Building on the 1984 study by Roger S. Ulrich, “View Through a Window May Influence Recovery from Surgery”, designers and researchers have continued to qualify the effects of design and nature on our well-being, particularly in situations where we receive healthcare services. Jennifer spent time with noted experts and authors including Clare Cooper-Marcus, Marni Barnes, and Naomi Sachs, discussing design best practices, and past and current research studies.
