Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, GA

Originally hired in 1990, Eberly & Associates provided Land Planning and Civil Engineering services for a comprehensive redesign of Atlanta Motor Speedway that was complete in 1997. The 900 acre site is the firm’s largest project to date.

The full range of services included: Master Plan Design, Traffic Flow Studies, Re-zoning submittals, Civil site design for Speedway Condominium Towers & Speedway Industrial Park and Civil Engineering design of the new quad-oval track, infield, new parking areas and loop road. All work was scheduled so the facility could remain operational.

Eberly & Associates worked closely with the other and local agencies to develop innovative solutions to traffic, environmental and other site development challenges.

Eberly & Associates, Inc. developed a signage plan for US Highway 19/41, which utilized 3 southbound lanes in the morning and 3 northbound lanes in the afternoon.  This traffic scheme became the first reverse traffic flow system employed in the State of Georgia by the Department of Transportation.

The increase in paved areas adjacent to the track resulted in the increase of stormwater runoff.  Eberly & Associates, Inc. designed a master planned detention system which also functioned as a wetland area.  Wetland plantings provided an enhancement of the detention area while serving as a natural filtration system of sediments and pollutants.
