E&A Completes Historic Piedmont Park Bathhouse and Pool Renovation

Memorial Day 2009 celebrated the reopening of the historic bathhouse and pool at Atlanta's Piedmont Park.  The original bathhouse was built in the late 1920s but experience neglect and deterioration over the past several decades.  The Piedmont Park Conservancy along with the City of Atlanta and generous donors are committed to the restoration of the existing park facilities and the expansion of the park in accordance with the original park master plan developed by Frederick Olmstead.   The 9,000 square foot building and 25,000 square foot pool is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.  The renovated facility includes event space, offices, kitchen, expanded viewing deck, and state of the art pool.  The project also included a new freestanding concessions and ticketing building.  The architectural design was completed by Smith Dalia Architects.  The project was constructed by Gay Construction Company and managed by Silverman Construction Program Management.  In 2008, E&A and Smith Dalia Architects also completed the design and construction of a LEED Silver stand-alone restroom building and boundless playground facility adjacent to the bathhouse and pool.
